Bulloch restaurant offers free meal to veterans

One Bulloch County business wants to a share a meal with veterans next week. Owners of the Teapotter's Cafe will host their second annial Veteran's Day meal. Veterans can join them for a free lunch or supper next Wednesday.

Pair represents Ascension at Tenn. cookoff

"Tee" Wayne Abshire and Brian Lipps, also known as Tee Wayne's Smokin' Lipps, represented the Louisiana Office of Tourism and the Parish of Ascension at the 21st Jack Daniel's Invitational World Championship BBQ Contest. The invitational is known as an extreme honor in the BBQ world, Abshire said. It was held Oct. 22-25 in Lynchburg, Tenn. They were the only team from Louisiana to be invited to compete in the event, which consisted of 80 teams.

Dighton Indian Council to hold fundraiser

The Dighton Indian Council will host a Chicken BBQ Fund Raiser Nov.15 from 4 to 7p.m. at the hall located at 1111 Somerset Ave. at the pavilion. Tickets are $12 each for a half chicken, sides, dessert, beverage, door prize and raffles. Eat in or take out is available.

Our Downtown Lunch man Daniel Krieger is taking some time off (he's busy being a professional photographer!), so I'm turning to a couple of new Downtown Lunchers to pick up the slack. This week Lunch'er Kevin hits up Yips. Yips could be a Manhattan restaurant empire, or "yip" could just be a Chinese word for restaurant. I am absolutely clueless.
